Westmead. Long-standing ties

The visit by United States Consul General, Neils Marquardt, to the Children’s Medical Research Institute, at Westmead, builds on the CMRI’s long-standing ties with the USA. Since the establishment of the institute over 50 years ago many American PhD students and post-doctoral students have studied and worked at the institute, and a number of CMRI research leaders have also received invaluable training in the USA. CMRI currently works collaboratively with researchers in many US research organisations.

Penrith. Agreement with council

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) have agreed with Penrith City Council’s view on developer levy caps and called for the state government to find a workable solution and make suburbs liveable. “The former state government legislation to cap developer levies, currently still in force, is unworkable for ratepayers, developers and communities. The cap simply does not allow enough funds to be raised in many areas to pay for infrastructure, such as parks, sporting fields, footpaths and other necessary community facilities,” Penrith Mayor, Greg Davies, said.
