Parramatta. Sale of government offices

The NSW government is preparing to offer for sale a package of office towers worth an estimated $400 million, which is likely to include government offices in Parramatta, with the government hoping to hook buyers by offering long lease terms, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Sydney Olympic Park. Death of identity

David Humphreys, former GM of Allphones Arena and past president of the Sydney Olympic Park Business Association (SOPBA), has passed away today from health complications. Mr Humphreys left the park last year after 10 years to return to his hometown of Perth to take up the role of GM of the 15,000-seat Perth Arena, which is scheduled to open on November 10. He began his career in Perth as the GM of the now demolished Perth Entertainment Centre, before moving to NSW to manage the Sydney Superdrome. “This news is a shock and a great loss to the venue, the industry and more importantly his friends and colleagues," said Karen Grega, SOPBA CEO.

Region. $1 million investment

Sydney Water is investing more than $1 million in renewing water mains across St Clair and Orchard Hills to ensure a reliable local water supply. Work has begun on Chatsworth Road, St Clair and Caddens Road, Orchard Hills, and is expected to be finished in November. Sydney Water MD, Kevin Young, said the investment is part of a broader $177.3 million spend across Sydney.

Bankstown. Largest parts manufacturer

Quickstep Technologies, at Bankstown Airport, is negotiating its third long-term agreement with aerospace giants Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to supply F-35 Lighting 11 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) components. This 20-year agreement to make parts of the fifth generation of strike fighters will help make Quickstep the largest aircraft parts manufacturer outside Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 in the world, according to The Australian Financial Review. Quickstep started life as a R&D entity in Western Australia
