Parramatta. Supercross event to go ahead

NSW Minister for Planning, Kristina Keneally, has approved the holding of the Sydney stage of the Australasian Supercross Championships, at Parramatta Stadium, scheduled for Saturday, November 8. The decision was made in time to prevent the people of Parramatta from losing the $1 million event to Homebush, where promoters had already begun establishing a fall back venue, according to The Daily Telegraph. The minister approved the event on condition it finished at 9.30pm.

Granville. Winners of business award

Merck Sharp and Dohme, which has its Australian headquarters at South Granville, and Advance, a leading network of Australian professionals abroad, are the sponsors of the Advancing BioBusiness Award, an initiative aiming to expand vital global connections for Australian science and foster more international business for local life sciences companies. Dr Christopher Wraight, research director, of Antisense Therapeutics Ltd, and Dr Raisa Monteiro, research director, of DendriMed, were selected as joint winners of the 2008 Advancing BioBusiness Award.
