Region. $4.9 million for Chifley electorate

The Labor electorate of Chifley, in Western Sydney secured $4.9 million, the second biggest amount in the country, in the Rudd Government’s "jobs fund". Of $132 million in one-off grants so far, $109 million can be traced to specific locations. Of this, $77 million, or 71 per cent, has gone to projects in Labor-held electorates. Liberal seats received $18 million, or 17 per cent, despite Liberal MPs holding 36 per cent of seats in Parliament, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

Sydney Olympic Park. $150m makeover possible

The ANZ Stadium, at Sydney Olympic Park could be transformed into a rectangular venue to host a World Cup final, with a roof over the stadium and an extra 7000 seats, increasing the ground's capacity to 90,000 in a $150 million makeover that could knock out Melbourne and ensure Sydney wins the fight to be Australia's nominated host for the final. A high-tech, retractable and transparent roof, the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, would protect fans from the elements and let natural light filter through.

Landsdowne. Nightclub site sold for $1.34m

The former Skelseys nightclub site, at Landsdowne, in south-west Sydney, was sold for $1.34m, as part of more than $18.7 million worth of NSW property sold under the hammer or beforehand, at a CB Richard Ellis auction. CBRE said 22 contracts were issued for the nightclub site.

Greystanes. Dexus gets a move on

The Dexus Property Group has commenced its development pipeline with two contracts, worth a combined $53 million, for its $150 million industrial estate, at Greystanes. The estate includes about 220,000 square metres of warehouse space and 21,000 square metres of office space, turning the former quarry into a modern complex. It has potential to create up to 800 construction jobs and accommodate 2000 workers.
