Sydney Olympic Park. Carnival atmosphere

More than two kilometres of temporary fencing will be erected around ANZ Stadium to create a carnival precinct during the NRL grand final week The project is being created through a partnership between the NRL, ANZ Stadium and the NSW Government “This carnival precinct will give fans attending the Grand Final a game-day experience unlike anything ever before,” said ARL Commission Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske. The 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final will kick-off at 5pm on Sunday, September 30, at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park.

Sydney Olympic Park. $150m makeover possible

The ANZ Stadium, at Sydney Olympic Park could be transformed into a rectangular venue to host a World Cup final, with a roof over the stadium and an extra 7000 seats, increasing the ground's capacity to 90,000 in a $150 million makeover that could knock out Melbourne and ensure Sydney wins the fight to be Australia's nominated host for the final. A high-tech, retractable and transparent roof, the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, would protect fans from the elements and let natural light filter through.

Sydney Olympic Park. Deal with French firm

StadeFrance Live Events, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Stade de France, in France, has a five-year agreement with ANZ Stadium to stage exclusively first night performances of classic theatre, opera and contemporary entertainment. “The prospect of regular artistic performances on a grand scale complements our current schedule of major sporting events making ANZ Stadium one of the world’s most versatile stadiums,” said Daryl Kerry, the newly-appointed ANZ Stadium CEO, following the departure of Ken Edwards. Mr Kerry was deputy CEO.

Sydney Olympic Park. Stadium sold for $30m

The ANZ is expected to announce, today, the sale of ANZ Infrastructure Services, to a consortium led by AFL chairman, Mike Fitzpatrick. The consortium has bought control of ANZ Stadium, at Sydney Olympic Park, and other assets. The buyout is believed to be worth more than $30 million, according to The Australian.
