Region. Growth of Western Sydney

A partnership between the Property Council of Australia and the Parramatta-based Western Sydney Business Connection, will hold the Western Sydney - The Growth Agenda lunch at WatervieW, on August 28. The speakers are Cr Alan Pendleton, Mayor, Blacktown City Council, Mark Cuddy, GM Industrial, DEXUS Property Group and Paul Brennan, MD, ASP Group. The moderator will be Glenn Byres, NSW ED, Property Council of Australia.


Sydney Olympic Park. GM on the move south

Paul Sergeant is to leave his role as GM of Sydney's Allphones Arena, in September, to become CEO of Etihad Stadium, in Melbourne. Mr Sergeant joined Allphones Arena in September 2010, having also been GM of Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium between 2007 and 2009. In between those roles he was chief executive of a privately owned, professional Rugby Club and its venue in his native Wales.


North Ryde. Students' payment services

Macquarie University has signed an agreement with the National Australia Bank Group and China’s bankcard association, UnionPay, that will make it even easier for Chinese students to study with it. The agreement will introduce UnionPay payment services to the university campus to enable Chinese students to more conveniently pay tuition fees and living expenses. The agreement, the first involving an Australian university, The university has over 5000 current Chinese students and a further 14,000 Chinese alumni.


South West. Guide for development

Landcom has prepared a draft development control plan for Edmondson Park South which includes provisions to guide the preparation and assessment of development applications at the site. Landcom is seeking an amendment of the State significant site listing to reduce the minimum lot size from 250 square metres to 200 square metres for dwelling houses and semi-detached dwellings.

North West. Department seeks feedback

The NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure is seeking feedback on draft precinct plans for the Box Hill and Box Hill Industrial precincts, in north-west Sydney, which have been revised to reflect landowner and resident feedback. The precincts will have capacity for some 9540 homes, 128 hectares of employment land and 58 hectares of open space.
