Windsor. KFC outlet becomes carpark

The former KFC outlet in Windsor, owned by Hawkesbury Council Windsor will be demolished to make way for a carpark and public toilets. KFC had leased the land from council until it closed its franchise on December 29 last year, transferring ownership back to council on March 9 this year.

Penrith. World cup in Penrith

The Rowing World Cup will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, in Penrith, in 2013 and 2014. The Penrith Business Alliance and the race organisers will work in partnership to develop a program to maximize the opportunities for local businesses from the event.

Penrith. Maintaining close relationship

The CEO of the Penrith Business Alliance (PBA), Bijai Kumar, said the organisation would continue to maintain a close relationship with Toby Compton, business development advisor for the state of Tennessee, in the USA, following the latter’s presentation to 160 local business people on the healthcare industry in Nashville. ”The PBA will be extensively involved both in the development of the Werrington Innovation Campus as well as exploring new pathways for attracting developer interest in the Penrith CBD,” Mr Kumar said. He said plans were already underway to hold a video hook-up with local interested parties on models used by Tennessee to fund major projects. Mr Compton met with the University of Western Sydney, Nepean Hospital, Sydney Medical School, Nepean and council.

Penrith. Commended for efforts

The Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner, commended the Penrith Business Alliance (PBA) and Penrith City Council on their efforts to globally position Penrith and the recent success of the PBA business delegation to China and Korea. Mr Stoner said at Penrith’s inaugural City Talk event, that he has provided a copy of the PBA report to the government’s Multicultural Advisory Panel.

Liverpool. Council seeking support

The Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) will consider, at its meeting on June 21, Liverpool City Council’s request for financial assistance and other support for its campaign on the proposed Moorebank Intermodal Freight Terminal.

Moorebank. Terminal proposal supported

The Property Council supports the proposal by Sydney Intermodal Terminal Alliance (SIMTA) to redevelop a site at Moorebank for a rail link and intermodal terminal to transport container freight. The council said the NSW Government should continue to facilitate delivery of the SIMTA Intermodal Terminal and the associated road and rail infrastructure. The council urged the government to deliver additional intermodal freight links at Ingleburn, Minto and Eastern Creek. It said the sites and infrastructure corridors need to be preserved as a matter of priority.

Parramatta. Arab Film Festival

The Parramatta-based Arab Film Festival Australia, which conducted its first event in 2001, will mount its 2012 season, at the Riverside Theatres, from June 28-July 1, before visiting Melbourne and Canberra. In 2011, over 3000 people from both Arabic and non-Arabic backgrounds attended over 4 days in Parramatta. Strategic partners and supporters include Parramatta City Council, Etihad Airways, Arts NSW, World Media International, Radio 2moro, Port Bar and Restaurant, and the Council of Arab Australian Relations. The festival is managed by Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE), in Parramatta.
