Region. Witchery sold for $172 million

Country Road will pay $172 million for Witchery, its subsequent retail brands, and Mimco. There are five Witchery stores and one Mimco outlet in Western Sydney. Ian Moir, chairman of Country Road, said the acquisition creates one of Australia's largest speciality fashion retailers.

Cabramatta. Auction of retail arcade

A shopping arcade in the Cabramatta city centre containing 27 specialty shops will be auctioned by CBRE on October 19. The arcade, which is located in a thriving Asian retail precinct, has 57-basement car spaces and is adjacent to a Fairfield City Council car park providing approximately 679 spaces. Net passing income is approximately $1.05 million

Region. $21 million of retail property sales

More than $21 million worth of retail property, in Western Sydney has been transacted in the second quarter of 2010, specifically in the sub-$30 million bracket, according to a Sydney Morning Herald report. "The second quarter illustrates that demand seems to have shifted to retail investment with a solid cash flow,” said Harry Bui, of CBRI. ”The standout example of our recent sales is the (3911-square-metre) Cecil Hills Shopping Village sold for$10.8 million on an initial net yield of 8.9 per cent,” he said.

Baulkham Hills. Gateway Plaza on the market

The Gateway Plaza, at Baulkham Hills, is to be auctioned. The land area is 1460 square metres, with a lettable area of approximately 841.3 square metres. The plaza, which has 11 tenancies, has an approximate net income of $248,000 per annum.

Mixed retail results

Two regional retailers had mixed results in the first quarter of 2007-08. Chester Hill-based Fantastic Furniture has reported good sales growth in the first quarter but warned that rising home ownership costs and the federal election could dampen consumer sentiment. Meanwhile women's fashion group Noni B said sales had been flat and expected weak first-half sales because of a difficult retail market in NSW and the federal election.
