Homebush. Plan for 650 units

The Department of Planning has on public exhibition, until February 29, a concept plan application for a mixed-use development consisting of five buildings with eight towers, ranging in height from two to 21 storeys, at Columbria Precinct, Parramatta, Road, Homebush. The plan provides approximately 650 residential units, 17,240 square metres of commercial floorspace, 4800 square metres of retail floorspace, 920 square metres of community space, and basement parking for approximately 800 vehicles. The proponents are David Lhuede Pty Ltd, Kennards Self Storage and Hai Phong Properties.

Region. Popularity of serviced apartments

Accor Hotels, Mantra Group, Quest, Meriton and others are represented in the serviced apartment sector of the accommodation category, in Western Sydney. A new report from CBRE Hotels tips the sector to become a much more dominant force in the category. The report highlights two distinct market segments in this sector nationally, leisure seekers and the corporate traveller. Demand from the leisure market has fostered considerable serviced apartment development in tourist markets Currently, domestic customers make up 82 per cent of serviced apartment business. The report highlights that 75 per cent of new traveller accommodation projects, either planned or under construction, will involve serviced apartments, given the current financing constraints on new hotels and the comparative cost benefits of serviced apartment projects.

Parramatta. Eight-storey project approved

Parramatta City Council has approved a DA for an eight-story, mixed-use development containing 24 apartments and two commercial tenancies, over four levels of basement parking, on the corner of Sorrell Street and Lamount Parade. The project is opposite the construction of a 12-storey apartment block overlooking the Parramatta River in the CBD
