Penrith. Major plan for the city

A major plan ‘‘strategically significant’’ to Penrith evolving into a regional city is currently in the planning process. Landcom is proposing to develop the North Penrith Urban Area,, the vacant former army land just north of the railway station, providing residential, employment and open spaces. The plan prepared for Landcom states the capital investment value of the project was in the order of $423 million.

Penrith. Plans for old defence site

A mix of housing, commercial and recreational facilities is planned for the old defence site north of Penrith railway station. The concept plan for what’s been dubbed the North Penrith development - to be located between the station and Coreen Ave and developed by Landcom – is currently on exhibition. About 900-1000 dwellings are planned including Station Square centred around a public square with retail and commercial space. Landcom corporate marketing general manager, Robert Sullivan, said he hoped the approval process would move quickly to allow work to begin later this year.

Penrith. Defence leases CBD space

The Defence Department will relocate some staff from its Orchard Hills facility to the Penrith CBD, where it will lease 4000 square metres, at 311 High Street, because of an organisational restructure and a requirement for modern accommodation, with transport facilities, a Defence Department spokeswoman told the Penrith Star
