Region. EOI for hospital network

NSW Health has ccalled for expressions of interest for a chief executive, of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (Randwick and Westmead). The network is a newly established statutory health corporation comprising the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and the Sydney Children’s Hospital, and providing specialist paediatric services to childre throughout NSW. NSW Health has also called for expressions of interest for appointment to the network’s advisory council.

Region. Two hospitals benefit in the budget

Around $40 million will be shared between Blacktown Hospital and the University of Notre Dame for clinical schools, and Liverpool Hospital will receive funding for the $46.9 million Ingham Research Facility.

Region. Need for more hospitals

A draft New South Wales Government report has revealed the need for more hospital services, in south-west Sydney, which is slated to absorb an extra 300,000 people over the next quarter of a century. The Sydney South-West Area Health Service’s report said Campbelltown Hospital would act as the region's major metropolitan hub, a mini-hospital, at Leppington, could provide outreach maternity care and mental health services, as well as minor surgical procedures. Another, at Oran Park, could specialise in dental services, child health nursing and palliative care. The area which straddles Campbelltown, Camden and Liverpool councils.

Region. Rebuild and upgrade for hospitals

The State Government submitted a $2.5 billion for capital works programs to the Commonwealth’s Hospital and Health Fund, which included a $150 million rebuild of Nepean Hospital, at Penrith, which is struggling to cope with a growing population, according to The Daily Telegraph. The submission also included cardiography and diagnostic units in a major upgrade of Blacktown Hospital.
