Parramatta. ICE's new appointments

The Parramata-based Informatioon and Cultural Exchange (ICE) has made the following appointments: Lisa Torrance as acting executive director, Kristy Mayhew as marketing and communications manager, and Georgie Lampe as administration and resources officer.

Parramatta. Reducing unemployment

The Parramatta-based Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) has received Federal Governemnt funding of $1.5 million, which will go towards an upgrade of ICE’s Switch Multimedia & Digital Arts Access Centre, with cutting-edge equipment and software, as well as equipment to support artists, such as cameras, audio suites and professional recording studios, and a professional green room for film and screen. Projects allow artists and communities to increase their skills and employment prospects. “It’s an incredibly important program for Western Sydney, where youth unemployment stands at a shocking 30 per cent”, said ICE, executive director, Lena Nahlous.

Granville.Festival wins marketing award

Mouna Zaylah and Fadia Abboud, at the Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE), based in Granville, won the Integral Energy Community Award, in the 2008 National Multicultural Marketing Awards, in recognition of their promotion of the 2008 Sydney Arab Film Festival. “This is a true marketing success story,” said Stepan Kerkyasharian, chair, of the Community Relations Commission. ICE supports the festival which has been running since 2001. ICE is a non-profit organisation that runs creative community projects with young people and diverse communities across Western Sydney.
