Region. Spotlight on the West

The Property Council of Australia (NSW) will hold a function, Spotlight on Western Sydney, in the Sydney CBD, on March 2. Speakers will include Rodd Staples, project director, North West Rail Link, Craig Butler, director, Penrith City Council and Arthur Ilias, project director, Jordan Springs Lend Lease.

Parramatta. New operations centre

Parramatta City Council has approved a business case for the construction of a new operations centre, at Rydalmere, subject to approval of the Department of Local Government. Council resolved to approve the preparation for disposal of 1a Morton Street, Parramatta, and 42 Bridge Road, Rydalmere.

Parramatta. Disposal of surplus sites

Parramatta City Council’s property development group has begun an analysis on a number of priority development projects for council’s consideration, as well as the preparation and disposal of surplus sites owned by council. A property development and investment update will be prepared early in 2011, with further updates on a quarterly basis.

Region. 'Serious risk of losing investment'

The Property Council of Australia has called on the NSW government to “make a call on the future of the Western Sydney Employment Land Investigation Area” at Eastern Creek to ensure certainty of the future supply of land. “If we don’t promote and support the development of (employment) hubs, NSW is at a serious risk of losing investment to our interstate competitors,” said Glenn Byres, the council’s NSW acting executive director. He said the government released an action plan, in 2007, for employment lands but the delivery had fallen short.
