Prospect. $100 million theme park

Construction of the $100 million Wet ‘n’ Wild Sydney theme park, at Prospect, by Village Roadshow, is expected to begin in a few months in time to open by September 2013. The Department of Planning approved an application in December for the design, construction and operation of stages 1 and 2. The application also sought approval for a Complying Development Code for the future development of Stage 3. The theme park has leased 25 hectares of land from the Western Sydney Parklands Trust. Village is reported to have said 300 jobs would be created during construction and operation of the park and $500 million would be injected into the Western Sydney economy in the first 10 years.

Prospect. $100 million theme park proposal

Prospect. First step of $80 million project

Village Roadshow has submitted a Part 3A Preliminary Environment Assessment Report to the Department of Planning of the proposed $80 million Wet 'n' Wild Sydney theme park, at Prospect. It is the first formal step in the planning process for the park at Reservoir Road. Village Roadshow director of corporate strategy Clark Kirby said he was overwhelmed by the support received since the project was first announced.

Prospect. Economic impact of $80m proposal

An independent economic impact assessment, commissioned by Village Roadshow, of its proposed $80 million Wet ‘n’ Wild state-of-the-art theme park, on a 25-hectare site at Prospect, concluded that the theme park would support more than 300 local full-time jobs during construction, support more than 278 jobs once operational, bring more than $340 million in tourism expenditure to Sydney during the first 10 years of operations, contribute more than $500 million to the NSW economy during the first 10 years of operations, and attract 900,000 people every year, including 175,000 international and interstate visitors. As part of its planning application, Village Roadshow will propose to contribute $5.2 million towards the upgrading of road infrastructure in the vicinity of the park The NSW Government, through Industry and Investment NSW, worked with Village Roadshow to secure its decision to make this investment in Sydney.
