Parramatta. Tourism development

Parramatta City Council aims, in the financial year 2011-12, activate the Parramatta River foreshore in the CBD, develop a strategy to position Parramatta as an events destination, engage resources for tourism development and management, develop a local tourism product, develop a a leisure brand for the city and implement priority actions in the Visitor Strategy for Parramatta, about to go on public exhibition

Parramatta. Five-year tourism plan

Parramatta City Council is expected to issue a five-year tourism action plan in the first quarter 2011, following an extensive market research, tourism planning and product development project funded by a federal government grant of $500,000. Council said in its 2009/10 annual report, published in December, that it produced a series of prospectuses to encourage potential tourism operators to establish in the city.

Parramatta. $49,000 tourism grant

Parramatta City Council has received a grant of $49,000 towards a marketing campaign aimed at attracting visitors to Parramatta, under the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney Tourism Partnership Funding Program. “The campaign will include the development and online distribution of a new visitor guide and target interstate and overseas tourists accessing Parramatta, from the river corridor from Sydney, as well as business travellers from Victoria and Queensland,” said local MP, Tanya Gadiel. The Parramatta campaign will run from 1 November 2009 until 31 January 2010.
