Region. Lecturer wins award

University of Western Sydney industrial design lecturer, Christian Tietz, has been recognised as part of the winning team for the 2011 World Habitat Award. Mr Tietz was honoured for his work for the 'Healthabitat' Housing for Health program, which surveys community housing before training local Indigenous people in basic repair skills to help improve and maintain the properties.

Region. UWS wins employer award

The University of Western Sydney has been awarded the 'Employer of Choice for Women' citation for the ninth consecutive year, by the federal government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA). The University has received the accolade every year since it was first announced, in 2001, by providing a wide range of programs and policies that support women in the following ways: 20 weeks' paid maternity or adoption leave, flexible work practices such as job sharing, anti-harassment training and a strong commitment to ensuring women are represented on committees.
