Region. UWS introduces new courses

UWS has introduced a number of new courses for 2010, including the Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Physiotherapy, the Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Podiatric Medicine, and the Bachelor of Social Science/Master of Urban Management and Planning. Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), Professor Campbell, said the new degrees were designed to address workforce demand and emerging career opportunities, particularly within the Greater Western Sydney region. “Western Sydney is one of Australia's most diverse and dynamic regions, and is expected to significantly change over the next decade as businesses, industry and residents are drawn into the area,” he said.

Students get a new edge

New business degrees at the University of Western Sydney provide students with the most up-to-date and industry-relevant business education. The new courses to commence in 2008 are the Batchelor of Business and Commerce and the Master of Business and Commerce (Applied Service Management). The first is a specially targeted learning and leadership initiative aimed at high-achieving business students who receive a UAI of 90 or above, and the second, developed in consultation with industry partners, provides industry-specific knowledge and relevant professional business skills for managers in the services sector.
