Clyde. Request to handle more refuse

The private operator of the Woodlawn waste site near Goulburn, the French group Veolia, is seeking to nearly treble the amount of the refuse it can handle from Clyde waste transfer station as pressure mounts on the city's declining landfill capacity. The Wright Report found the city's four landfills will be full within six years, putting increasing focus on the Goulburn facility. Potential transfer stations nominated by Veolia for taking waste by rail to Woodlawn include Botany, Cooks River, Enfield, Chullora, Camelia, Riverstone and Emu Plains. Veolia is also bidding to buy the state-owned WSN Waste Services, a rival waste group, which is to be sold to the private sector.
