Region. Retail stores open and close

German discount supermarket chain, Aldi, which has its Australian business based at Minchinbury, plans to open 30 stores a year “for the foreseeable future”. The company currently has 202 stores. The company also plans new distribution centres in Sydney and Melbourne over the next three years, at a cost of $250 million each. Meanwhile, furniture and electrical goods retailer, Harvey Norman, has announced the closure of its Domayne store in Campbelltown and the possible closure of others. Figgins Holdings earlier announced the closure of its 43 Shoobiz stores, many of which are in the region.

Parramatta. Retail opportunities near Westfield

Expressions of interest have been called for three retail investments in the 25-storey EsCen tower, opposite Westfield Parramatta. The leases range from three to 10 years, with approximate net income of $41,500 to $80,000 per annum. The EsCen building, consisting of 93 residential apartments, is on the former Parramatta Fire Station site. Khoury & Partners is the agent.

Neighbourhood shopping centre for sale

The 6878-square-metre GLA Thornleigh Marketplace is for sale. The centre, on a 8642-square-metre site, includes a Woolworths Supermarket & Dan Murphy’s Liquor, committed to a 20-year lease, Woolworths regional office on a 10-year lease, and 15 speciality tenancies. Parking is for 334 vehicles. Fully leased net income is $2.2 million. The main trade area is estimated at 95,890 persons.

Church Street property to be auctioned
