Parramatta. Sydney Water wins awards

The International Water Association (IWA) has announced a Global Honour Award to Sydney Water, headquartered in Parramatta, for its Critical Water Mains Strategy and Implementation Project, which will be presented at the 2012 IWA World Water Congress in Busan, Korea in September. Sydney Water and its engineering consultant, Sinclair Knight Merz, took home the top Planning category award for this project in the Asia Pacific region at last month’s Project Innovation Awards in Singapore.

St Marys. $209m project wins two awards

Sydney Water has won two major awards for the $209 million St Marys Water Recycling Project. The first was a statewide award for Project Management in the Sustainable Projects Category, at the NSW Project Management Achievement Awards. The second was for Engineering Excellence “Highly Commended” in the Environment and Heritage Category at the Engineers Australia Awards Sydney Division.

Region. Three firms win water awards

Three regional businesses are winners in Sydney Water’s annual business water efficiency awards: Swift Electroplaters, Silverwater – save water by recycling the rinse water they use in the electroplating process; Diageo Australia, Huntingwood – save water by improving maintenance and continuing to look for opportunities to improve water efficiency in the manufacturing process; and Merck, Sharp & Dohme, South Granville – save water by re-directing clean waste water from is purified water systems to the utilities cooling tower, and improving water efficiency in taps, toilets and showers.
