Blacktown. Council says no to inquiry

The Labor-controlled Blacktown Council has blocked a public inquiry into the accusations of maladministration levelled at it by a former director. The motion for an inquiry raised by councillor Nick Tyrrell also called for a review of the council's internal audit committee, which the general manager Ron Moore confirmed did not adhere to Department of Local Government guidelines.

Blacktown. 20-storey building approved

Blacktown City Council and the Sydney West Joint Regional Planning Panel have approved a $25 million, 20 storey mixed-use complex in Second Avenue. The tower will consist of commercial space on the ground floor, 42 one-bedroom residential units, 114 two-bedroom units and 12 three-bedroom units. Council’s building height regulations allow for buildings up to 20 storeys. The highest building in the area is eight storeys.

Blacktown. Factory sold for $1.5 million

An owner occupier has paid $1.5 million for a 4068-square-metre site containing a factory with 893 square metres of floor space and about 2000 square metres of hardstand area, in Chicago Street, Blacktown.

Blacktown. Site sold for $1.9 million

A single-storey 467-square-metre showroom, on a 1018-square-metre site, in Blacktown, tenanted by Dulux, has been sold for $1.975 million, on a yield of 6.8 per cent.

Blacktown. $70 million project on CBD edge

Blacktown City Council plans to transform the 17-hectare Blacktown Showground and the Francis Park precinct, on the edge of the CBD, into a $70 million venue including the annual Blacktown Show, exhibition halls, conference rooms, museums and open-air plazas. Mayor, Leo Kelly, said the site would be a mix of Darling Harbour and Sydney Olympic Park. Details of the development and other projects, in the Blacktown City 2025 document, will be released, at Blacktown Olympic Park, on Wednesday.
