Penrith. Projects worth $43 million approved

State Government’s Joint Regional Planning Panel has approved four projects worth an estimated $43 million for Penrith. The four projects included applications for a new oral health facility on the Nepean Hospital site, an $18 million multi-storey residential complex in Henry St, Penrith, a village lake for Jordan Springs and a 281-lot residential subdivision in Glenmore Park stage two. Deputy Mayor Jim Aitken said: “There are a further seven projects to be reported to the JRPP in the near future.“This buzz of investment activity indicates the confidence developers and investors are showing in our city.

Region. Major approvals by DOP

Major developments approved by the Department of Planning in August include: a $182 million employment site on the former Hoxton Park Aerodrome delivering 1400 construction jobs and up to 1135 ongoing positions; a $60 million regional distribution park of warehouses, distribution centres and logistics facilities, to be located in the Western Sydney Employment Area near the junction of the M4 and M7; the rejuvenation of the former Channel 7 site at Epping to begin with approval given for site preparation works for the construction of a childcare facility and communal residential facilities; and the continuing revitalisation of Homebush Bay, with a new $129 million residential project to deliver up to 573 new dwellings at Wentworth Point.

Region. Major projects approved

The Department of Planning’s latest e-newsletter states the following major projects, were approved, in Western Sydney, in October: the $150 million Dexus Estate Industrial Park, at Greystanes, which will support 2000 workers and 800 construction jobs; the Light Horse Waste Facility, at Eastern Creek, which will rehabilitate the currently disused quarry and include a recycling facility and non-putrescible landfill; duplication of the rail line between Vineyard and Quakers Hill, as well as new and renovated rail stations, which will improve the capacity of the line and service reliability in the North West Growth Centre; and a $13 million warehousing facility, at Erskine Park, which will consolidate the growing economic role of the Western Sydney Employment Area. Construction has begun at the $500 million Gregory Hills development in the South West Growth Centre, to deliver 2400 new homes and employment lands to support around 2500 new jobs. Also, a draft precinct plan for the 551-hectare Marsden Park Industrial Precinct, with the capacity for some 10,000 jobs, is now on public exhibition.
