Parramatta. Shaping Sydney's future

Parramatta residents have the opportunity to help shape the future of Sydney, when the NSW Department of Infrastructure and Planning hosts an information session at Parramatta City Library on June 13. The session is one of 15 being held across Sydney during May and June, so that locals can feed into the development of the state government’s new Metropolitan Strategy, a long-term plan for the future of Sydney. “The State Government’s metropolitan strategy will play a big part in how and where our City grows, so it is vital that the community has its say on important issues such as employment, transport and housing,” Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Lorraine Wearne, said ”Council has been vocal on the level of planning and investment required to keep up with the population growth of Western Sydney over the next 20 years and encouraged locals to do the same.

Parramatta. Eight-storey building approved

The Sydney West Region Joint Planning Panel has approved a DA for an eight-storey mixed-use building, at 7-9 Victoria Road & 21 Sorrell Street, Parramatta. The application by Bookrill Pty Ltd involves the demolition of all structures and buildings and the construction of a building containing 53 units over 7 levels, 470 square metres of ground floor retail/commercial space and three levels of basement carparking over three levels for 70 cars. The value of the capital investment is $13.8 million. Bodene Pty Ltd owns the 1448-square-metre property currently occupied by the Bike Barn bicycle business.

Parramatta. Auction of DA-approved site

Northgate, a mixed-use part 7 and part 13-storey development site of approximately 3000 square metres, approved by Parramatta City Council, at 459-463 Church Street, in the northern section of the CBD, will be auctioned on October 7. The approval is for 94 units, approximately 2288 square metres of retail space and four levels of basement parking for 186 vehicles in a building, on the corner of Church and Albert streets. The applicant, Youma Constructions No 2 Pty Ltd, has sought provision for an additional 11 units and 15 parking spaces.
