North Ryde. Funding for research

Over $6 million in funding has been given to Macquarie University research projects in the latest round of grants from the Australian Research Council (ARC). A total of 29 projects will receive ARC funding from 2012, encompassing areas such as astronomy, indigenous education and climate reconstructions.

North Ryde. Uni gets $4.5 million

The National Health and Medical Research Council will provide Macquarie University with $4.5 million for projects in 2012 - almost double the $2.3 million it provided in 2011. "This affirmation of Macquarie's growing profile in health and medical research confirms our decision to co-locate the Australian School of Advanced Medicine and the Macquarie University Private Hospital, the first campus-based private hospital in Australia," he said Professor Jim Piper, deputy vice-chancellor research.

North Ryde. Researchers in key role

Macquarie University researchers Professor Nicki Packer and Associate Professor Mark Molloy are among the researchers who will be playing key roles in a new $30 million dollar cancer care program announced by the NSW government. The researchers will partner with researchers from Sydney University's Kolling Institute of Medical Research, based at the Royal North Shore Hospital, to form the Northern Translational Cancer Research Unit. The researchers will share in around $1.7 million in funding over the next three years. Researchers within the unit are eligible to seek additional CINSW competitive funds to expand their research projects.
