Parramatta. Meriton gets approval

The federal government has approved the proposed Meriton Apartments’ project, on the former David Jones site, at 330 Church Street. Council had expressed its concerns to the federal government regarding the impact on views from the World Heritage listed Old Government House, in Parramatta Park, which could have may affected proposed high rise building projects in the CBD, such as the $135 million Meriton Apartments’ proposal including 24-storey and 34-storey residential towers.

Parramatta. Meriton considering submissions.

Meriton Apartments is considering 23 submissions made on its proposal on the former David Jones site at 330 Church Street, in the Parramatta CBD. Meriton proposes a $150 million mixed use residential development comprised of the demolition of existing structures, four levels of basement car parking accommodating 597 car spaces, a 3-storey podium comprised of residential and commercial lobby areas, 8 retail tenancies, a 1928-square-metre supermarket, a 705-square-metre childcare centre, 9 maisonette apartments fronting the Parramatta River, a 22-storey tower containing 170 serviced apartments, a 32-storey tower containing 211 residential apartments.

Parramatta. Merition Apartments' applicatioon

NSW Planning and Infrastructure has on public exhibition an application for a mixed-use residential, retail and commercial development, on the former David Jones site, at 330 Church Street, in the Parramatta CBD. Meriton Apartments seeks to construct a 43,787-square-metre complex including a 3-storey podium with eight retail tenancies, a 1928-square-metre supermarket, a 22-storey tower containing 170 serviced apartments and a 32-storey tower containing 211 residential apartments.

Parramatta. Winning design for $111m project

Tony Caro Architecture has won the design competition for a proposed mixed-use residential development on the former David Jones site, at 330 Church Street, in the Parramatta CBD. The $111 million redevelopment of the site is being proposed by Meriton Apartments Pty Ltd., with the winning design including two separate residential towers of 34 and 22 storeys, a public square and stepped terraces down to the edge of the Parramatta River. “The revitalisation of areas along the Parramatta River is a strong focus for council, and it's important that any future foreshore development provide the right mix of commercial, retail, community and recreational Space,” said Lord Mayor, John Chedid. Meriton can now formally lodge an application with the Department of Planning, which will undertake a full merit based assessment of the scheme. This will include consultation with Parramatta City Council.

Parramatta. 400 apartments for CBD

Meriton Apartments has purchased the former David Jones site, in Church Street and overlooking the Parramatta River, for $36.5 million and proposes to develop 400 apartments in two towers as well as a 4000-square-metre retail development, including a major supermarket tenant. Meriton has also acquired a 50-year lease over the adjacent 520- car park.
