Region. Recycled water plant

The Minister for Finance and Services, Greg Pearce, has officially opened the Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme and the Fairfield Recycled Water Plant in Western Sydney. NSW has the first private scheme for high grade recycled water and supports the government’s commitment to increase the use of recycled water.The scheme will supply over three billion litres a year of high quality recycled water to five major industrial customers in the Rosehill and Smithfield areas and a number of smaller industrial and irrigation customers. The scheme has the potential to supply a further four billion litres a year for additional commercial customers in the surrounding areas of Parramatta, Westmead and Wetherill Park AquaNet and Veolia will operate and maintain the scheme and supply recycled water under a 20 year agreement,” Mr Pearce said.

Liverpool. Reccycled water by 2015

By 2015 the Hoxton Park Recycled Water scheme, currently under construction will supply about 900 mega litres of recycled water to 14,000 new homes, as well as industrial sites in Edmondson Park, Middleton Grange, Ingleburn Gardens, Yarrunga Industrial Area and Panorama Estate. Rod Kerr, of Sydney Water Strategic Asset Management, said there was more demand for recycled water in industrial areas and that eventually even more will be needed.

Hoxton Park. John Holland wins water contract

NSW Minister for Water, Phil Costa, said a further $35 million would be injected into infrastructure for the Hoxton Park recycled water scheme to boost recycled water supplies in Sydney’s south west. “NSW already has the largest residential recycled water scheme in Australia at Rouse Hill and this new investment will see us deliver a similar scheme for Sydney’s south west,” he said. The Hoxton Park Recycled Water Scheme will eventually supply 1.4 billion litres of recycled water a year to about 14,000 new homes and industrial areas. The $35 million contract was awarded to John Holland.

St Marys. $209 million recycling plant opened

Premier Kristine Keneally has opened a $209 million recycling plant at St Marys. Following the plant’s successful commissioning period, the plant will now start providing up to 18 billion litres of recycled water a year – 3.6 per cent of the needs of Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. The project takes wastewater from plants at Quakers Hill, St Marys and Penrith “The St Marys Water Recycling Plant is a pioneer in its field – nowhere else in the world is such high quality recycled water being used for the environment,” Ms Keneally said.

Fairfield. Recycled effluent for industry

Aqua Net and Veolia Water Australia will build and operate a water-recycling plant, at Fairfield, to reclaim 4.3 billion litres of effluent, having secured the $100 million Rosehill-Camellia Water Recycling Scheme contract. Some 4.3 litres of effluent from Fairfield and Liverpool treatment plants will be recycled and piped to industrial users.
