Parramatta. Servicing the city

Gary Sturgess, a former top bureaucrat in NSW, has declared servicing Parramatta and the missing road links - especially the M4 East - were absolutely critical to take Sydney out of its infrastructure crisis. The state government needed as a second priority to take ownership of a second airport. "The decision on a location for a second Sydney airport must be made now," he said.

Parramatta. Tenders for project

Parramatta City Council has called for tenders for the development of council land (0.5 hectares) on and adjacent to the Lennox Bridge car park, in the CBD, for high quality residential apartments on the riverfront. As part of the development, council requires facilities in the form of a “discovery centre”, multi-functional spaces, associated retail and public domain.

Parramatta. 26-storey tower approved

The Department of Planning has approved an application by Crown International Holdings for the redevelopment of a site bounded by Macquarie, Marsden and Hunter streets, for its 26-storey mixed use project. Macquarie Place, consisting of 367 residential units, commercial and retail floor space, six levels of basement car parking. The proposal has a capital investment value of $150 million.

Parramatta. Key challenges facing the city

Population and knowledge-based employment growth, targeting younger workers, marketing the city brand and the Civic Place redevelopment are among the key economic development challenges facing the city, according to Parramatta City Council. Some $1.5 million will be allocated for project management of the $1.6 billion Civic Place project, which is scheduled to commence in the 2011/12 financial year. Stage one should be completed in 2013/14.

Parramatta. Parra Leagues sells property

Parramatta Leagues Club has sold an office building, at 52 O’Connell Street, in North Parramatta, with vacant possession for $2.05 million to an owner-occupier. The club is having discussions about the sale of level one of 50 O’Connell Street, for $3.175 million. Negotiations are being held for a development site, at 46-48 O’Connell Street, to be sold for about $1.85 million, according to The Australian Financial Review.

Parramatta. $200m project sent to DOP

Parramatta City Council will submit to the Department of Planning the Part3A project application by Crown International Holdings Group for the construction of 26-storey mixed use development comprising 339 residential units, 1903 square metres of retail space, 5488 square metres of commercial space and six levels of basement parking for 506 vehicles. The building to be known as Macquarie Place, is on a 4879-square-metre site on the corner of Macquarie, Marsden and Hunter streets. The cost of construction is expected to be $200 million.

Parramatta. Proposal for 26-storey building

Parramatta City Council will consider, at its meeting on June 28, the endorsement of a submission to the Department of Planning regarding an application by Crown International Holdings Group for the construction of a high-rise residential building, on the corners of Hunter, Marsden and Macquarie streets, in the CBD. Crown proposes to construct a 26-storey mixed-use development comprising 339 residential units, 1903 square metres of retail space, 5488 square metres of commercial space, six levels of basement car parking for 506 vehicles, communal residential amenities including a pool and gym. The application includes a public plaza with a viewing area of archaeological remains on the site.
